Pre-Assessment: KWL Chart
The KWL sheet provided can be used as a pre-assessment for this unit. The students should be directed to fill out the "Know" section before the start of the unit, this section is for the information that they already have learned previously. Students should also fill out the "Want to Know" section before the start of the lesson as a way to brainstorm about the information that they would like to learn. The "Learned" section can be filled out throughout the unit as a summary piece. Worksheet

Informal Assessment: Think, Pair, Share
Students will be given a list of 7 questions. They will have 60 seconds to generate an answer to the first question on the page. Once the time is up students will discuss their answers with a partner. After the partner discussion, the class as a whole will have a short discussion on everybody's answers. These steps need to be taken for every question in order to make it a think, pair, share activity. Worksheet

Formal Assessment: Test
This summative test will challenge students to complete multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, as well as deeply analyze a map. This assessment will sum up everything that they have learned throughout the unit. Worksheet
